Facts & FAQs

So if this is such a great deal, why isn’t everybody doing it?

There is no one answer to that question, but from our own research we have come up with these series of factors. Firstly, only about 5% of the road vehicles in America run on diesel – this leaves a lot of alternative fuel sources such as veggie oil unused. But to run straight veggie oil you need a kit, and many aren’t willing to invest in the conversion process. It also takes a certain type of veggie oil, and not every restaurant uses the right type – in fact it takes a bit of ground work to find out just who has the oil you need and if they’re willing to give it to you (another one of our introductory services). And finally, there are more misconceptions out there about what it takes to use veggie oil as a diesel alternative than there are craters on the moon – this leads to confusion, misinformation, and ultimately the nonuse of wvo.

Will running veggie oil mess up my diesel engine?

No, not if you have a conversion kit on your rig. Rudolph Diesel, the guy who invented the diesel engine, actually designed it to run on peanut oil. Then the powers that be got their hands on it and the world of diesel engines was forever changed. In this day and age, with fuel costs skyrocketing out of control, businesses and individuals who are seeing their bottom line eaten away by the rising cost of diesel need to find alternative means to bring those costs down, and that’s where Vfuel can help.

Can my diesel vehicles still use regular diesel?

Yes. And as a matter of fact, you will still need to use diesel. To use veggie oil as a fuel source the temp of the oil and the engine need to be at a certain temperature before use. That’s were the conversion kit comes into play. You will always need to start your vehicles using regular diesel, then when the engine/oil gets to a certain temperature, you can use the veggie oil. There might also be cases when you will not run veggie oil, relying on your diesel tank (for example, if you run out of veggie oil on the road, you can switch back over to run on diesel).

How do I get my hands on used veggie oil?

Do you have an employee who could be tasked with picking up used oil from restaurants a few times a week/month? If not, do you have the capital to hire someone to do it? Are you willing to work with local restaurants, etc. who have waste oil? If used veggie oil is already spoken for, what can you offer to get your hands on the good stuff? If you have a client that uses vegetable oil, maybe you could knock off a few bucks on monthly deliveries, or their next order, or the next service you provide them. Once you get rolling, you’ll be amazed at how many people are willing, and wanting, to help you. There are no shortage of ideas and ways of making it work, and we’re here to help you.

What exactly are the benefits of using veggie oil instead of diesel?

Waste veggie oil is much cheaper than diesel (most of the time it’s free). Imagine cutting your diesel bill by 80-90%, now imagine what you could do with those kinds of savings.

By all accounts, the emissions from burning wvo is 0% - what you’re burning is essentially vegetable matter, and the amount of energy taken to grow the plant is the same amount that is released (after it has been used for its primary source: food). There is some scientific equation out there that proves this, just don’t ask me to write it out, I ain’t no scientist.

Bragging rights! By stating that your engines run on veggie oil, you have just turned into a green-minded business. Think about the marketing potential for such a claim. People want green alternatives, and you’ve just upped your green stock.
